Black Power Live channeled the tension stemming from a racially charged summer in a global pandemic fueled by police brutality into a creative outlet to effect change in the system. Musicians and activists raised awareness and funds for Black Lives Matter organizations through their music in a worldwide broadcast format. Hosted by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, musical performances included Miguel, Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange), Doja Cat, Aloe Blacc, Vagabon, Jessie Reyez, Ne-Yo, Ian Isiah, and Twin Shadow, among others, with Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Alex Isley, Denzel Curry, G Perico and Daylyt debuting a new piece featuring live music and visuals entitled “Racism on Trial.”
